Experiences I have been “teaching” for many years beginning in 1960 with ROTC students when I was in the US Marine Corps and I have continued through the years to share what I have learned. I am very curious, like to read and learn and then share that knowledge with others. I was involved in Advertising for 15 years as a writer, marketing strategist, and account manager) first as an employee with two, Fortune 500 companies and then as an Owner and Partner in an advertising agency (consumer and industrial.) for Some of our clients included Target stores, Dain Rauscher a regional brokerage firm and Donaldson Inc. an industrial company). During this period I learned as much as I could about business, economics, writing, giving presentations and critical thinking skills. I left the agency to join one of my clients, Dain Rauscher, as a Securities Broker so I could get more involved in analyzing the stock market and the economy. I soon learned that this required a much deeper understanding of critical things skills as well as trying to set aside my own biases. This required me to learn about the technical aspects of the markets; but it also meant that I had to learn much more about the economy including how it is defined, its structure, how its measured, what drives the economy, how it is effected by politics and the Government and the Federal Reserve Bank. In other words, how it really works. To do, this I had to first expand my knowledge of critical thinking skills even further. I now have a seven-step process I use to turn data, misinformation and opinions into knowledge that can be used for decision-making. As for the economy, I started with the information I learned in college economic courses and supplemented that with extensive reading, discussions and seminars. I had to learn not only more about Keynesian economics, but also Austrian economics and Capitalism. I also had to learn about how the global economy effect the US economy (for example, global money flows not just domestic money flows.) I also became part of the D.C. based Concord Coalition’s (non-partisan) speaker’s bureau to give talks about our fiscal policy and the impact on the economy and our debt. This soon turned into giving keynote speeches to different organizations around the country. I am now represented by www.nationallyspeaking.com for speaking engagements. Two years ago, I started a new Venture Capital Firm, Harbor Capital Group LLC, to specialize in helping entrepreneurs and investors change the world. I like working with people and enjoy helping “students” learn about the economy and public speaking. I do not have a preconceived idea of what each individual needs and can adapt the information and approach to exactly meet the goals of the student.

Hobbies
I coached pre-high school hockey for nine years and loved every minute of it. My hobbies are reading and learning about different things. I am fascinated by the possibilities of our future and have been a member of the World Futures Society and the Minnesota Futurists. I also enjoy going to musicals with my wife, golf and riding my bike.
